Green Cauldron

Green Cauldron is the labor of love of Denise Bradley and Ginny Southgate.  We are Mommies working and raising our children in Northern Kentucky, within sight of Cincinnati, Ohio.

We started creating our natural products to counter the commercialism of Christmas by handcrafting gifts for our family and friends and decided to turn professional because we truly believe skin care is like cooking.  The secret is using the best ingredients available (and remembering that sleep is over-rated).

Our available products will reflect our growing knowledge and customer feedback, but we will always use the highest quality, most natural vegetarian ingredients possible to create small batches of spa quality skin care and other natural products.

First and foremost, we are mommies.  Ginny's daughter is on the left and to the right of her are Denise's four children.  Our children are our inspiration, our artistic collaborators (they have designed all of the labels that do not include our primary logo) and our motivation.  Our husbands, while not pictured, are an important and supportive part of our business.  Denise's husband drew our primary logo and both of them have been extremely patient and supportive about our tendency to turn our kitchens into our workshops.  They are our toughest critics and most tireless promoters.

Our Philosophy 

☼ Our products are vegetarian, but not vegan.   We test on ourselves and our loved ones, never on animals (though our dogs have been known to lick lotion off our hands). ☼

☼ We use only pure essential oils for fragrances we have created and blend ourselves.  Consumer tip:  “cosmetic grade fragrances” means synthetic chemicals.  We’ll have none of that. ☼ 

☼ We achieve useful shelf lives through natural preservatives, including Suprapein and Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE), as well as natural anti-oxidants including Rosemary Oil Extract (ROE) and Vitamin E, which are better explained at ingredients. ☼ 

☼ We strive to use the most natural ingredients we can to achieve the best quality product we can.  We are proud of our craftsmanship and disclose our ingredients and processes plainly rather than hiding behind indefinable popular buzzwords. ☼ 

☼ “Natural”, in particular, is a concept hard to define and easy to abuse as a marketing tool.  To us, it means ingredients that come from a plant or (living) animal source that were not molecularly altered in some lab to make them more accommodating to our needs.  Somehow, that feels like cheating. ☼ 

☼ All of our products have a purpose.  Fun is a purpose. ☼ 

☼ “Handcrafted” we take seriously. We make all of our products in our kitchens from scratch and never use lotion or other bases.  The ingredients we list are the ingredients we start with unless clearly noted.  We infuse our own herbal oils, emulsify our own lotions and make (and mill) our own soaps.  We think sleep is over-rated. ☼
